The biggest concern for many people with pre-existing medical conditions and illnesses is that there are little to no health insurance options for them to choose from. Though your options may look a bit different than they would if you were perfectly healthy, there are a variety of health insurance options that will allow you to get the care you need and won't break your budget.

Because of the new health care laws that have come into place and are going to continue to come into place over the next few years, it will no longer be possible for health insurance companies to not extend health care plans to those with pre-existing conditions. This will help those that are ill no matter the prognosis of their condition, you will be able to find health insurance to help defray the costs of medical care. Also, these new health care reforms prevent health insurance companies from capping off your insurance.

This means that regardless of your condition or how much it ultimately costs, you won't be cut off at some astronomical (seeming to most people) number such as $250,000 at which point you would be wholly responsible for the remaining costs. Too many Americans have been seriously ill with some form of cancer or required extensive surgery where the costs exceeded their limits and wound up hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. Based on these unfortunate situations, laws have now been passed that require insurance companies to offer insurance to these distressed patients.

With these new laws in place, family members who have been diagnosed with a long term condition or illness that requires a lot of health visits will still be able to find coverage from various health care providers. This is because, in anticipation of the enforcement of the new health care reforms, many companies have already begun offering plans for those with pre-existing conditions or for those who have exceeded their existing health insurance caps.

If you already have coverage, you should still speak with a customer servcie representative and find out if these changes have affected your policy. If so, and the changes are for the good, then you shouldn't have to take any steps at this time. However, if you don't have health insurance at this point in time and you do have pre-existing health conditions, take heart. You can find health insurance and it will be affordable.
